White Water Rafting

Zambezi River – Victoria Falls

Acclaimed as the wildest one-day whitewater run in the World, the Zambezi River is also recognized by rafting and kayaking enthusiasts as one of the top paddling rivers on the planet!

White Water Rafting on the Zambezi River in Victoria Falls has been classified by the British Canoe Union as Grade 5 - "extremely difficult, long and violent rapids, steep gradients, big drops and pressure areas". This is a high volume, pool-drop river with little exposed rock either in the rapids or in the pools below the rapids. The Batoka rapids below Victoria Falls were run in a raft for the first time in March 1981

We operate year round. River conditions are determined by seasonally predictable fluctuations in water levels. Low water season generally runs from August to January each year - this is when the Zambezi is at its very wildest. We're in high water from about February to July with a short "closed season" around April/May depending on the season's rains.

Rafting Packages:

One-day

2 people minimum.

Tea and coffee is supplied at the meeting point prior to departure. On the river each raft carries water and orange cordial. A generous lunch is provided at a picturesque spot on the banks of the river. At the top of the Gorge, at the end of the trip, complimentary soft drinks, cordials and beers are enjoyed.

Multi day

During the Low Water season we offer an overnight and 2 day trip to the Batoka Dam site (approximately 56 kms down stream from the Victoria Falls).

Overnight trip - You will overnight at our camp, which is situated above rapid number 23. Tents, bedrolls and sleeping bags will be provided by us. All meals and soft drinks are complimentary. You must arrange and pay for preferred alcoholic beverages before departure. We supply beers, red & white wine and gin & tonic. You are transferred back to the office the next morning at 10am. The drive from the gorge is approximately 40km long.

Two-day trip - We run the usual one-day section of the river to our overnight camp below/at rapid No 23 where we spend the first night. The following day we continue down from No 23 to the proposed Batoka Gorge Dam Site, approximately 56kms from Victoria Falls. We will be confronted with rapids known as Open season, the narrows, Chimamba, upper and lower Moemba and finally exiting above the proposed dam site. The second night is spent at the top of the gorge overlooking the rugged hills and valleys that form the Batoka gorge. You will then be transferred back to Victoria Falls the following morning.

All meals are supplied. The camps are stocked with beers, wines, soft drinks and gin & tonics.

Blyde River Canyon- Kruger National Park

The stretch of river we operate is situated below the well known Bourke's Luck pot holes. The distance we paddle is 8.5 km's long and ends at the foot of the famous "Three Rondawels". We start off with an early morning drive (45 mins) through scenic country-side to the rivers edge. The river trip takes between 8 and 9 hours and is filled with exhilarating white water and magnificent scenery of the Canyon. Lunch is served en route.

After spending a full day on the river we then motor boat out across the dam to the "Boat House" at Swadini. The dam is also situated in the canyon. This will take us about 20 to 30 mins. Return transport from the pick up point will be provided from this site.

Continuous white water varying from easy to difficult is encountered; some stretches will be portaged. The river is technical and requires considerable effort both on and off the water. The river flows through a deep and awe inspiring canyon, placing it in a class of its own.
